Word of Mouth is a multidisciplinary research project dedicated to uncovering the hidden stories of medieval religious women by working at the intersection of history and archaeological science. The Word of Mouth project is dedicated to recovering more stories of premodern women at work, combining historical/archival research with the most recent advances in archaeological science.
Taking full advantage of the latest advances in macro-, micro-, chemical and bimolecular analyses, our team is uncovering exciting new information about the lives of premodern women. Our multidisciplinary team is opening new windows on the work, diet, foodways, and health of past populations, linking people to the natural and built environments and documenting the entanglement of people and things with an unprecedented level of detail.
